Alpha Safety are proud to have gained status as an approved CITB Internet Test Centre, further expanding the ability to support our construction based clients and their workforce.
As an already an approved CITB ATO (Approved Training Organisation), Alpha Safety are now also able to support our clients by offering the CITB HS&E test from our Swansea & Cardiff test centres.
What Is The CITB HS&E Test & How Does It Run?
The CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test plays a crucial role in helping construction workers prove they are safe on site. For employers, a team who have passed the CITB HS&E test is just another method of assurance that your team are knowledgable in what it takes to be safe on site.
There are three types of test available:
- Operatives test
- Specialists test
- Managers & Professionals test
The test lasts for a maximum of 45 minutes, made up of 50 questions which focus on the following safety critical topics:
- Legal & Management
- Health & Welfare
- General Safety
- High Risk Activities
- Environmental
Types Of CSCS Cards & How To Apply
On succesful completion of the CITB HS&E test, along with supporting qualifications, CSCS cards can then be applied for. Alpha Safety are a registered training provider under the CSCS scheme, in turn are able to apply for your CSCS card on your behalf (terms & conditions apply).
The most common type of CSCS card is the 'green' labourer card, this is covered by the operative HS&E test. Alpha Safety offers the Labourer (green) card package, supporting you each and every step of the way. This package includes the CITB Health & Safety Awareness course and the operatives HS&E test. Once both elements have been successfully completed, we can then remove the stress by applying for your CSCS card for you.

Test support & Other Need To Knows
To sit the CITB HS&E test you will need to provide a valid passport or UK driving licence (both of which can't be no more than 6 months out of date) in order to register the test with CITB. We also require a passport standard photograph prior to the test, which can be captured at point of registry prior to the test. If you are unable to provide either form of identification please contact us for further support on the details below.
Personal belongings must not be taken into the test room, this includes, but is not limited to, mobile phones and other electronic devices, personal headphones, watches, purses/ wallets, hats or other head wear (excluding religious head wear), bags, books, notes and outer clothing items such as coats. We have locked storage facilities at our test centres for you to make use of during your test (please ensure all electronic devices are switched off prior to storage). Alpha Safety cannot accept responsibility for any lost, stolen, damaged or misplaced personal items.
