Course Details
The Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a 5x day course, providing Site Managers with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as the legal responsibilities they have relevant to their work activities.
Our online, tutor-led remote training course is designed to support site managers to:
- Manage & implement health, safety and environmental aspects on site, in accordance to current legal provisions and within the context of the role.
- Implement new guidance and industry best practice.
- Develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety, welfare and the environment.
We also support the delivery of CITB SMSTS through regular classroom sessions or through private/ on-site courses - Get in touch to find out more!
There are no formal entry requirements, delegates should hold, or be about to hold, the role of Site Manager. Delegates must be competent in Written and Spoken English.
Primary photographic identification (such as a driving license or passport) is required to sit this CITB course which must be presented on registration, please get in touch if you require further assistance.
You will need a reliable internet connection and a desktop computer or laptop with a camera function or webcam. You will also need access to Zoom.
The minimum requirements for remote course delivery are:
- Operating system: Windows, Apple or Android
- Processor: 3 GHz
- RAM: 2 GB
- Broadband speed: 512 kbps
- Screen resolution: 1024 by 768
- The most recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari
- It is strongly recommended that you have more than one monitor or display to sit this course, this will support in viewing the online course teaching material as well as the tutor led presentation.
On booking completion, we will send you a CITB remote delegate form. Please ensure this form is completed and returned prior to course commencement as per the email instructions. We will also provide you with email access to the most up to date version of the course eBook.

Exercise - Construction Site Core Project Task
If you are or about to acquire a Site Managers role on a construction site you have a legal and moral responsibility to your work force. Health and safety of the site lies with you, and it is necessary to make sure you are able to Manage a site that is suitable to be worked on.
If you are booking on behalf of a CITB levy claiming organisation, please provide your unique levy number and learner national insurance number at the point of booking or on the day of the course. On course completion we will then submit your levy claim on your behalf.
The awarding body CITB issue all certificates via PDF format. This will be emailed to the course booking contact on successful completion of the course, once receieved from CITB.
