This course has been designed for health and social care supervisors and managers to advance their skills and knowledge in the procedures involved with the protection of vulnerable adults. Adult abuse has become all too common in modern society. For this reason training staff in this subject has become a high priority for managers and an area of focus for external regulators. This Level 3 course covers all the topics necessary for management to ensure that their company is complying with current legislation, and that their staff are competent and suitable for the care environment.


There are no prerequisites to enrol on this course although a level 2 qualification in the subject would be advantageous.


Upon completion of this training students will be able to:

• Describe situations and conditions that could make an individual vulnerable

• Classify the categories of abuse and detail their indicators

• List current legislation relating to POVA and review the policies within their organisation.

• Explain whistle blowing and how to respond if a team member reports a concern

• Explain the DBS process and how to ensure all staff are safe and compliant within their environment

• Discuss a manager’s responsibilities when dealing with abuse

• Demonstrate how to report abuse to external agencies

• Determine how to create and manage a safe working environment
